With titles like Fizz Boom Bang, Red Hot Robots, Brixology and Nature’s Secrets, Mad Science summer camp sessions have us intrigued. Workshops, held at a number of area locations, are geared to kids from kindergarten through 6th grade, giving them the chance to be junior scientists for the summer.

After a pandemic hiatus and a location change, Saltworks was back to hosting their weekly summer studio for young performers in 2023. These classes are open to student actors of ALL experience levels. After warm-ups and theater games, students will be introduced to new theatrical skills each week such as ensemble building, character development, improvisation, monologues, scene study, creative movement, and more. At the end of each season, our students take center stage in spectacular fashion shows held in iconic locations across Central Ohio. These events are more than just showcases—they are celebrations of creativity, confidence, and community. Families and friends gather to cheer on their young designers as they proudly present their unique creations, walking the runway with poise and pride.
Vogue Summer School: Fashion Communication & Event Organisation
Classes are held year-round with summer camp being one of their busiest times of the year. Classes are offered in garment construction, pattern making, draping, illustration, college prep and more! After-school classes are available or enroll in their advanced Academy for young designers, a program Ilonka started when she took over as owner/director. And as an added exciting perk, the advanced students get to present their own designs on the runway at the annual ASFD Signature runway events at fantastic venues like the Bullock Museum of Texas in January of 2020.
Vogue Summer School: Fashion Styling Level 1
Perfect for active youth, this set is designed to keep you cool and comfortable during summer activities. The biker-style shorts feature a wide waistband for extra comfort and a flattering high-waisted fit. Students will receive step-by-step guided instructions, ensuring they master key sewing techniques as they go. The shorts and skirt feature trendy cargo side pockets, back patch pockets, and belt loops for added style and functionality. The skirt offers an option for a zipper front detail, while the shorts include an optional fly front, giving you the freedom to customize your look.
Within this program’s interior design courses, students receive a specialized education regarding kitchen and bath design through drawing skills, materials, drafting, and digital design. Students will be introduced to architectural and technique principles from both creative and practical standpoints to go more in-depth into their design proposals. Classes meet for seven hours daily, and there are two-hour workshops and field trips on Tuesday and Thursday nights. These evening activities include photo studio lighting tutorials, 3D printing and laser construction, and opportunities to build and stretch canvasses. While the 150 high school students (ages 15-18) participating in each session don’t receive grades, they can expect highly detailed constructive criticism. Lauded as the top design school in the United States, Parsons at The New School offers a premiere virtual fashion design summer program.
